IKU Chicago Branch
Sensei Tiberiu Bredicean
International
Kyokushinkai Union, IKU offers serious physical
education, and includes practice of the mind, body and
spirit under the discipline of the Eastern culture and
the hard work of the American spirit.
Sensei Tiberiu Bredicean has been practicing
Kyokushin karate for over 32 years. At the age of 15, he
began his Kyokushin training in Boia Mare, Romania, at
the first Kyokushin dojo in Romaina. At that time karate
was illegal in Romania.
Sensei Bredicean, also known as Sensei Tibi, taught
for a couple of years in Romania and the communist
government did not like that. The government tried to
kill him by having someone run him over with a car. They
succeeded one time, when they hit him when he was on his
bike going to a friends house after practice. Luckily he
saw the car coming at the last moment and they didn't do
that much damage to his body.
In 1986 Sensei Tibi got a refugee visa to the USA and
emigrated to America. In 1987 he fought in a a couple of
full contact competitions and professional kick boxing
matches. In 1989 he was training with Shihan Leslaw
Samitowski, and he stayed with him for many years, up
until 2011. Sensei Tibi also trained with other fighters
in different dojos in the USA and has over two years
experience in judo and boxing.
In March 2011, Sensei Tibi recieved his 4th Dan in
Kyokushin by
Kaicho
David Farzinzad. At that time, he also became the
IKU Chicago branch chief.
Sensei Tibi states, "All my life I trained hard and
sometimes I pay the price for it, but I will never
change it for anything. I will always have the idea to
train hard or go home."
